The Japanese capital city of Tokyo has had a long and sometimes turbulent past. The defining moments in the citys history are a combination of events created by both man and nature resulting in some violent and on occasion troubling times for the past residents of what is today one of the worlds largest cities as well as being the worlds largest metropolitan area in terms of its population.

Japan is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire so it is not surprising that the entire archipelago is dotted by numerous volcanically and geologically active and inactive volcanoes. The country is also frequented by earthquakes. The most recent disastrous underwater earthquake that struck Japan created one of the most destructive and deadliest tsunamis of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Yes, although volcanoes spit countless fireballs and molten lava, they can be very green too. The land surrounding volcanoes are among the most fertile soils in the world. Many active and inactive volcanoes have green surroundings because of the numerous plants and trees that grow on their slopes and nearby areas.
Japan, an archipelago in East Asia, is dotted with volcanoes and is part of the so-called Pacific Chain of Fire. The country is frequented by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes and tsunamis brought about by these tremors. Japan is a mountainous country and several of these land formations are sacred to the Japanese.
Tokyo in Japan as well as being one of the worlds biggest cities is also one of its safest so anyone wishing to visit the city and stay in one of its budget end or cheaper hotels should still be safe wherever they choose to stay.
